Our approach

Our work approach is based on germaneness, trust, transparency, and shared power. In this manner, we ensure that resources go where they are most needed, while maintaining clear accountability and measurable impact.

We finance priorities and long-term impact

We support the priorities and strategies of grassroots groups, organizations, and networks that are part of social movements and feminist and women’s movements. We prioritize groups that have less access to traditional financing but are at the forefront of social and environmental justice and the defense of human rights.

We build close relationships based on trust

Our proximity to our partners allows us to know first-hand their needs, problems and progress, as well as the issues and contexts at the community, local, national, and regional levels, which is vital to provide them with better support and appropriate strengthening opportunities.

We use a democratic and inclusive selection process

Through a participatory voting process, the applicant organizations help us decide which projects to support through our programs. This approach ensures that funding decisions are made by those who are closest to the work and are part of the movements, which fosters a sense of belonging, responsibility, equal opportunities, and transparency.

We encourage collaboration, not just funding

Financial support is only one piece of the puzzle. We actively create spaces for connection, collaboration, and shared learning between groups. By fostering these exchanges, we bolster empathy and solidarity across movements, helping organizations to share knowledge, identify potential partnerships, and amplify their joint impact.

We promote leadership and participation

We believe that people should have real power and be part of the decisions that affect their lives. Our model reflects this by integrating participation and leadership development at all levels, from selecting new grantees and defining their priorities, to strategic capacity building, monitoring, and evaluation.

Beyond funding: An ally for change

At FCAM Foundation, we do more than just give grants. With open communication and a shared vision, we contribute to solutions and strengthen movements. Every dollar we invest is a commitment to resilience, empowerment, care, rights, and lasting social change.

What we don’t fund

We do not give grants to individuals or offer scholarships of any kind. We focus on collective action and strengthening the organizations that drive movements.

Our commitment is clear: transparent, participatory, and transformative resources that guarantee that each investment drives real and lasting change.
